Pablo Fallabrino Arneis Chardonnay
2020 - Pablo's winery has just under 20 hectares under vine. His Arneis vines (a northern Italian variety) come from a plot just under a half a hectare and the Chardonnay from a plot of under a 1/3 hectare, each combining to produce just about 500 cases annually of this special wine. The blend is 60% Arneis, 40% Chardonnay fermented with natural yeasts, aged on the lees in stainless steel for 12 months and bottled unfiltered. When poured, the color is golden with a vermillion green rim that displays a visceral density on the glass. Fresh, upfront aromas of apple blossom, peach and green pear are intermingled with raw almonds, white flowers and smoky minerals. Density is instantly felt on the palate as the fresh fruit characters dance across your tongue, ending with a crisp, flavorful finish. This is a great conversational wine that is enjoyable in the glass by itself, as an aperitif or pair it with a slow baked chicken, flounder w/ a lemon tarragon brown butter sauce, or a creamy alfredo pasta dish.
