Not heard of Fitou? No worries. It’s a little town in the southwest corner of France making wines very much like Cotes du Rhone or Gigondas or even the famed region Chateauneuf du Pape. But not at such high prices as the best wines of those regions. This wine is a steal! It’s 38% Syrah, 38% Grenache and 24% Carignan, aged in new barrels for 12 months to give it a big, rich weight on the palate, and shows that similar spice and garrigue characteristics of Rhône Grenache balanced by the chewy, dense Syrah and Carignan fruit.
