The 2019 Alma Negra(dark soul) M blend is aptly named as it shows up in the glass with an opaque crushed purple velvet robe of color. The blend is dominated by Bonarda grapes, blended with Malbec and other red varieties, fermented and aged in a mix of American and French oak for 12 months. It has a full court press of aromas including boysenberry, mulberry, black berry, black plum, vanilla spice, roasted coffee and dark cocoa. Bold, richly flavored and juicy fruit flavors ink the palate in black berry fruits, dusty all-spice, black pepper and leathery dry tannins. It is a solid pairing for a classic roast beef, a perfectly grilled flank steak w/ a chimichurri drizzle, or Korean-barbecue meatballs.
