The 2020 Fantini Montepulciano d'Abruzzo shows a ripe cherry red color with a solid dark core in the glass. It has a bountiful nose featuring dusty dark black berry, black cherry, plum, raspberries and notes of powdered cocoa, violets and spice. With a medium weight on the palate, the wine has a friendly Italian texture with very smooth fruit, tannins and spice. This is a nice daily sipper, especially for the price, and goes incredibly well with spaghetti pomodoro, lasagna, chicken cacciatore or grilled octopus. For years, this wine has outsold all other Italian red wines on the Wall of 100 by a three to one margin. Try it and we think you will understand why.
