2019 - Building off of a classic red Rhone blend of grape varieties, the 2019 Wolftrap Red has a majority of Syrah, with a little Mourvedre and a splash of Viognier. The wine has an inky, blood red velvet color that stains the glass. Full aromas of black raspberries, blackberry, plum, black cherry, intermingles with a dark smoke, dry baking spices and earthy notes. On the palate. the 2019 is more balanced than previous vintages, giving a broader texture with red & black berry flavors without one dominating over another. The finish is strong, pleasantly mixed with a peppery spice and dry. This is a perfect accompaniment for meats on the grill including venison, wild boar or just a well made hamburger.
