If you were to invite us over for little soiree this summer, there is a high probability that we would be dragging along several bottles of our email deal this week, the 2016 Kings Ridge Pinot Gris. There just isn’t much not to love about Oregon's beautiful Willamette Valley with its nearly perfect seasons and incredibly delicious wines. We have long been fans of Ryan Harms and his Union Wine Company whenever we are on the lookout for great wines for a great value from this part of the world. Whether it is his Underwood series and the ingenious canned wine they produce or the Kings Ridge wines that were his first foray into making a premium series of Willamette Valley wines, we are very rarely disappointed.
The 2016 Kings Ridge Pinot Gris has a rich nose of white peach, key lime, pear and citrus blossom. This is a medium weight wine with a visceral peach nectar texture and lively honeyed fruits with a balance of fresh acidity to keep the wine lively on the palate. It is hard to beat this one for sipping with a plate of Chicken Alfredo, seared pork loin, or a finely baked halibut.
