WEEKLY WINE SPECIAL

Regular Retail: $19.99
Deal Price: $14.99, $84/6-pack

Andy and Deborah Cutter are the only employees of Duxoup, the small boutique winery they founded back in 1981. From their hand-built winery on a hillside in Dry Creek Valley in Northern Sonoma, they form the ideal winemaking duo, handling everything from vineyard management to wine production. When we say they most likely have touched every grape that goes into producing their wine, you can probably take it literally. It was that very romantic notion of wine production, which is at odds with so much of what we see, that first attracted us to our email deal this week, the 2014 Duxoup Syrah.

The 2014 Duxoup Syrah has an opaque, inky, dark purplish blue color in the glass. A richly infused nose on the wine is pleasantly balanced, yet packed, with notes of macerated mulberry, black berry, blueberry compote along with subtle toasted spice and earthy notes. Crushed velvet is what comes to mind when thinking about the texture of the Duxoup Syrah. It is nearly perfect from front to back, laden in deep juicy fruits and delicate hints of spice that touch every corner of the palate. This is a beast of a wine by the glass and offers up a savory pairing with roasted duck, grilled lamb shank or a beef ragout. Enjoy.
